It had to be done.

Right! Most people will have probably heard about what happened at the VMA's last week with Miley Cyrus' R-rated performance. I've been trying to avoid talking about it but as the title of this post says, it had to be done.
After a week of shocked tweets and articles on Miley's twerking, the twerker herself finally speaks up about it claiming she's made history. She refers back to when Britney Spears and Madonna kissed on live tv and how they themselves made history. What has the world come to, that when you want to make history and stand out from the crowd, you have to degrade yourself and lower all your standards? Since when did our heroines and heroes go from people that helped society be better and the world develop to people that only care about themselves and material things that will go to any lengths to achieve popularity and fame. How do we let these kinds of people become so important in our lives that we want to look like that in body shape/size, dress like them, talk and act like them. I used to watch Hannah Montana. Yeah...I know...and like any other girl I would think her clothes were cool or I wanted my hair to be like hers. But the Miley from a week ago was unrecognisable in the way she behaved. We should look for our heroines and heroes in other sources. From actual people that made history like Florence Nightingale and her influence in the care of wounded soldiers, Eleanor Roosevelt and her fight for Human Rights, Princess Diana and her charitable work. Obviously we won't make history in these same ways but we can do small things to improve our society. We can all be charitable, we can all stand up for what we believe in and keep our standards high. Don't lose who you are in the noise and blinding lights of the world. I am a Mormon. I believe I am a daughter of God. In fact I know it. Love yourself for the right reasons. mormon.org

Greetings!

Hi everyone!

Every so often I decide I will start a blog. I set it up, and then....nothing happens! Sometimes not even a single post is written. I know, it's sad. Well, I figured I would start it properly this time! My name is Carina Rodwell and I'm originally from Portugal but moved to England 8 years ago. I am now married to the wonderful Dan Rodwell who makes life all the more fun! But more about him later :) I am 23 years old (just! my birthday was last week!) and I love love LOVE playing music! So that is me in a really summarized way! Although I am sure you will get to know me more and more as I blog about all the small and simple things that make life interesting and fun! For the time being, I leave you with a song that I've been quite into recently as it's played often at work! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1oM3kQpXRo
